There have been some hard and crazy days around here lately. Full calendars. Work stress. The weight of what it means to parent, and grow, and guide these three He has given to us. Searching for wisdom as to how to do this parenting thing "right" or at least grasping for His wisdom as to how to do this parenting thing at all.
Slow down.
Savor the moments.
This time goes by so quickly.
Enjoy them.
Let go and have fun.
Remember they are gifts.
These words play through my head throughout the day... and I know I should think this way and that these words are so true. But, on days like today, when there have been failings, and fallings, and forgiveness needed, and grace given.... all I want to do is make it to my bed at night and wish the day away.
On days like today, what I needed was to go search out some gifts from Him. The little things that caught my eye and made me smile. The little things of this day that are so precious, and full of joy, and are just truly blessings in my days.
The things that made me smile today...
The way he has to sort and line up his letters on the fridge...
A compass rose on the middle of my living room floor...
A Husker pom-pom she made... and the way she took the time to try and color my cream yarn red with her marker...
An "Apple Book" I'm making for the preschool class I'll be teaching once a week at our new homeschool Coop...
A sunny, new place to "do school"...
Water color art projects.... because most days I don't take the time to do the art projects....
Dark chocolate M&M's... a daily treat around here... (oops... didn't I just buy this bag...)
Matchbox cars and Milk Lids.... two of my little guy's obsessions that I find tucked everywhere around the house... (yes... I said Milk Lids)
Big projects waiting do be done this weekend - and an open weekend to do them...
Our new continent puzzles that my big guy loves to do over and over again...
My Bible and books... savoring the moments I can breath in Jesus and cling to His word...
today it happened to be Psalm 62:1-2...
"My soul finds rest in God alone. My salvation comes from Him.
He alone is my Rock and my Salvation. He is my fortress I will never be shaken."
And ending our evening with a high school football game and tent building in the back yard, smores for all the kids in the neighborhood, glow bracelets and light saber fights, sweatshirts and jeans, and tucking my dear ones into their sleeping bags as they "camp" with daddy in the back yard.
Thank you Jesus for these gifts. Even on hard days and crazy days, might I remember to seek You out and see the treasures and blessing that are all around me that are from You and that make me just want to smile.
