Pumpkin Patch

Kallan's preschool headed to Vala's Pumpkin Patch for a morning of fun
and learning about apples.  After our little session and having lots of fun picking apples,
we were free to have fun at the patch the rest of the day.
I've been to quite a few pumpkin patches over the years, and I must say that
Vala's is like the Disneyland of pumpkin patches.
Living just a few miles away,
we know when to beat the crowds or when to just stay away!
We always have lots of fun and make lots of family memories together!

(Kallan's face was like this every time he went down...)
Not one of his favorite activities at the patch!
Everyone's favorite... the jumping pillows!!!
Daddy even got into the action which brought lots of squeals and giggles!

This little guy was amazing!  Totally baby #4!
Slept when he was tired, ate when he was hungry,
and just enjoyed being along for the ride.
Of course, we can't leave without these pictures.
We have one from every year...

And this one... my favorite!

September

Remembering September...

Tim, Baylor, and I spent a weekend in California, while the other kids were able to spend the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa.  While they were there, they found and became attached to three little toads, which they named Nicki, Steve, and George.
The toads came to Gretna to live with us (and the kids begged us to be able to keep them),
but I am not fond of frogs or toads, and besides, we were having trouble finding food for them to eat.  So, a release "party" was a must!
Ainsley was very specific on the place where they had to be released, so it took awhile to find just the right spot for them, but thankfully we did.  :)
Ainsley, and her favorite, Nicki.

My mission this summer was to find a piano for our home, and it turned out to be a bigger process than I ever thought it would be!  Liam had started lessons last fall on a keyboard, and by this year we knew we needed to upgrade to a piano.  So the search started for a good used piano that we would be able to enjoy over the years.  Thankfully, we found one that was just right for our home, and now beautiful piano music fills the air on many days!
Seriously,
Is there anything better than toothy smiles and striped pajamas?
This fall Liam played soccer again and really enjoyed it.
We could tell that a lot really "clicked" for him while watching him play this year.
He enjoyed playing all the positions and really loved his coach and the team he was on!

Liam also turned 9 1/2 on September 21st, so we had a little half birthday party for him which consisted of eating his favorite meal, Calzones, and watching a Husker game!
He also got one gift which was an under armor shirt... but I couldn't tell if he liked it or not.
The little man getting into trouble with the Sunday paper.
They wanted to burn a little energy during school by running outside in the rain.
I said yes, which sometimes a mama just has to do.
I hated all the wet grass that wanted to come inside, but oh how I loved all those little toes!
Baylor, loving the fact that mama gave him some "finger foods" to eat.
Oh, how I love this boy!
My crew... cheering on the Huskers!
There are so many things about this picture that makes my heart smile.
his arm around his papa,
dimples,
laundry waiting to be folded,
big, blue eyes,
the princess with her boys,
Nebraska red,
a moment in time captured,
my family.

I am beyond blessed... and thankful!

Baylor - 8 Months

My sweet Baylor Boy,

8 Months… How can it be?  Did you know that this is my all-time favorite month?  I discovered that I loved it when Liam went through it… and with each child I had, it just kept getting sweeter and sweeter confirming that yes, this is my favorite month of the first year.

I don’t know what it is that has captured my heart… maybe it’s the round cheeks and chubby thighs of my children that make their appearance prominent during this month.  Maybe it’s the way you all have started to play with your toys, or start to react to the world around you.  Maybe it’s the sweetness of your personality starting to bloom or the way you start to show that you know I’m Mama.  Maybe it’s those toothy smiles, or contagious giggles… but whatever it is, I LOVE IT!

I have savored these months with you Baylor… smelling the top of your head, holding your sweet hand while you eat, and engraving on my heart the feeling of you in my arms.  But this month… I’m really soaking all of you in and cherishing this 8th month with you.

So this is you at 8 months…
Height: 27.5 inches    Weight: 20 pounds

You are growing like crazy!  It has been in these last days that you seem so heavy to me when I carry you around.  Solid… yes.  Chubby… yes.  Thick… yes.  You have bypassed any 9 month clothes I had for fall and are wearing all 12 month clothes.

You are eating about 4 times a day.  Your love for food has made you want to drop a feeding… there are some days you are only eating about 6 ounces, three times a day although I offer and try to get more in you… and I usually can.  You are 100% distracted when you eat, so good-bye blue nursing pillow on the couch and hello rocking chair up in your room with the door closed while you eat.

You really like baby food!  I haven’t found anything you don’t like.  Green and orange veggies… all fruits… you love it all!  You also have a fond love for puffs and yogurt bites!  They get picked out over the cheerios every time!  You are also getting better at using a sippy cup and taking at least a few sips of water at your meals.
You are sleeping great!  You are now sleeping through the night every night.  We put you down around 8:30 and you get up between 6 and 6:30.  You also take 3 naps a day.  One around 9:00, one around 1:00, and then a late afternoon snooze around 5:00.  You are a wonder baby at putting yourself to sleep.  Just give you your green paci and your blue blankie and you’re out!  You do not like to be rocked to sleep or snuggled, and you do not like to sleep anywhere else other than your crib (or car seat or Ergo if we are out and about).

You are a happy and content baby, but you also know what you want and can have a temper.  I love to see your toothy smile and hear your giggles.  But you can throw a mean tantrum if I take a toy out of your hand that you want or when you don’t get your way.  It’s kind of scary seeing your determination and will at such a young age… hopefully it’s just a stage!  J

Other loves:
You love to kick your legs while you are on your tummy or in your jumper
You are sitting really well and love to sit and play with toys
Your hair is growing like crazy and getting so long
You love to scream for fun
You don’t really “move” anywhere… but can push yourself up on all 4’s for a bit
You love your paci and blankie
You love your brothers and sister
You do not like to snuggle or be rocked
You are starting to push away when you don’t want to be held anymore
You will however spend a long time in the Ergo and be perfectly content
You have now had your first flight on an airplane and traveled to California
You dipped your toes in the ocean for the first time
You are “talking” more and more to yourself while you play
You love to play with anything that isn’t a baby toy
You have the biggest blue eyes, and we get comments from everyone about them
You have the sweetest baby face that just steals my heart
And even though you can be so sweet and give the best smiles... I also see this side of you often...
Silly boy!
I am loving you more and more every day… and I love you at 8 months!
