My
Liam,
Today
you turned eight. How can that be? I feel as if the older you get, the faster
the years fly by. I feel as if the last
year I have watched you leave all “little boy” behind you and just be a
boy. A boy who is trying to figure out
who he is and what he likes. A boy who
is trying to express himself more in what he wears, the things he does, and how
he relates to people. You have
definitely just started to enter into the “tween” years and all that involves…
yet there is still this innocence about you that my heart cherishes.
This
morning at breakfast, you told me that your favorite birthday ever was the day
you were born. When I asked why, you
said, “Well… if it wasn’t for that birthday I wouldn’t be here!” Those thoughts just encompass who you are
right now to a tee… and I love it!
Who
are you at eight years old?
You
are a curious boy… you love to learn about anything and everything. Some of your favorite books right now are
Children’s Encyclopedias or “books of knowledge”. We are studying early American history, and
you love it. You want to know all about
the presidents and the wars. You love
all information, and it excites you.
You
are an active boy… you wake up early each day and your system is on “go” until
you hit the pillow at night. You love to
run, jump, dance, and play. You have an
intense personality that likes to plan out your day and then live it up! Not only are you physically active, but you
have a big and active imagination! You
are always thinking up stories or battles or games in your head. You love to use dramatic play with Ainsley
and Kallan, or set up scenes with your Legos.
Whether it’s your body that’s going or your mind that’s going… you are
just going!
You
are a social boy… oh so social! You love
people! You love your friends! You can be with one friend all morning, have
another friend over all afternoon, and still ask me if you can go out and play
with another friend after that! You get
your energy from people, and as you have gotten older this year, it’s been neat
to see that grow and evolve.
You
are a sweet boy… You can be so loving and kind to Ainsley and Kallan when you
want to. You still love to snuggle with
us and get hugs from us. You think of
thoughtful gifts to give others. You are
becoming such a big help to your dad and I... whether it’s making your own
breakfast or helping Kallan get on his shoes.
There
are so many more words that could describe who you are… but at the same time
I’m at a loss for putting who you are into just the right words.
You
are the one who made me a mama eight years ago.
You
are the one who I’m figuring out this whole parenting thing with the most, and some days
are better than others.
You
are the one I have to ask forgiveness from the most.
You
are so intense… in great ways and challenging ways.
You
are very smart.
You
are funny – or at least think you are.
You
love anything electronic… ipad, Wii, Leapster, Computer…
You
love history, spelling, math, and reading.
You
are starting to really like music.
You
love ravioli for supper and ice cream for dessert.
You
have a very first born personality.
You
love sports – to watch and to play.
You
have started to find a love for reading God’s Word.
You
have a very confident personality.
You
enjoy playing games and you are very competitive.
You
love, love, love your friends.
You
love Star Wars, Legos, and Nerf Guns.
You
make me smile, yet grab at my heart, as I watch you grow up into the start of a
young man.
Liam,
my prayer for you as you turn eight is that your heart would be soft towards
God and His Word. I pray that you would
have a deep love for God and cling to Him your whole life. I pray that the Word of God you have in your
head would come to live in your heart and play out in your life. I pray that you would grow to have a deep
love for others… wanting to serve them and put their needs before yours. And in all things, that you would want to glorify God in all
you do!
I
love you so much son! So much! Happy 8th Birthday!
