My
sweet Kallan,
Today
you turn 5 year old. How can that
be? A whole hand? You seem so grown up to me lately. Like you have left that little boy behind and
are running full force into the boy world.
You look older. You sound
older. You even have older
mannerisms. You were so excited that it
was going to be your birthday that you wanted me to wake you up at 2:40 AM so
you could be awake when you turned 5. I
thought morning would be good enough!
So
who are you at five years old?
I
would say the first thing that comes to my mind is smart. Kallan, you are one sharp kido. You continually amaze us with your knowledge
of the world around you. You love
information. You love learning facts and
figures. Your mind is like this sponge
on steroids that can’t get enough information crammed into it. It’s crazy, it’s amazing, and it’s who God
has made you to be. Right now your
current craze is everything about the world.
Continents, countries, flags, which countries border which, what
languages they speak, which flags have “hard seals” on them and which flags are
“easy”… as you call it. You spend hours
and hours every day coloring flags and continents, looking up information on
the iPad, and doing continent puzzles.
It’s just who you are… and we love you for it.
You are also our sweet boy. You
have these double dimples that melt my heart every day. You have a smile on your face all the time
and are pretty happy-go-lucky. You are
sensitive to routine and the way you want things to be. You love being a little brother to Liam and
Ainsley and a big brother to Baylor. You
love making things for people. You love
playing by yourself and you love playing with others. You love it when you are doing the right
thing, and you don’t like to be disciplined.
(This is your "telling us something important" face...)
Other
than doing activities about the world, you like to listen to music and play
outside. You enjoy pretending with
Ainsley and playing house or puppy. You love playing on the iPad and
coloring. You enjoy getting out the play
dough and reading books. You would say
your favorite foods are pizza, hotdogs, and strawberries... although you really
eat almost anything. You especially
enjoy candy or dessert (but who doesn’t?!?!) You are my "one sock on/one sock off" boy. Everyday... I can always find you with just one sock on. It makes me smile! You still love your blue and white blankie (please don't stop that...) and you love having “desk
time” in your room. You always have lots
of “work” to do (which is coloring flags right now) and usually have it all
planned out how it is going to get all done.
Kallan
Daniel, you are one of the best gifts God has ever given to me. You make me smile and fill my heart with
joy. You encourage my heart when my days
being a mama feel like a struggle. You
have been my "joy boy" from day one…
and I’m so thankful for the love and joy you
bring into each of my days.
Happy 5th Birthday Kallan!!!
